The best way to use Speedbar with Emacspeak?

Hi. I am probably doing something wrong when using Speedbar. I have no problem launching it, however, after opening a file in a separate frame and returning back to the "Speedbar" frame, I find that Emacs switches back to the Dired mode. The strangest thing is that it seems as though Speedbar is still active because I need to execute m-x speedbar twice in order to get Emacspeak announce it again. I hope I'm making sense. Best, Victor
