Hi all. Just built the latest snapshot of Emacspeak, which appeared to go off without a hitch save the ubiquitous warning that package CL is deprecated. I’m using Emacs 28.0.50, which I’ve been running for some months on this Mac without difficulties. No speech and, as advertised, I’m informed process speaker is not running. Echo area also periodically displays ‘back to top level’. No errors on load as far as I can tell, though it’s tricky using VO to reliably review messages or look at a backtrace, so I may be missing something. The speech server comes up from the command-line just fine. I get the behaviour both on normal startup and when I emacs -q and load things manually. Nothing else in my installation has changed and worked fine with previous versions of Emacspeak. I’ve had so little trouble for so long I confess I’m out of practice diagnosing this kind of situation, so thought I’d check to see if anyone else is having issues before digging around in manuals outside of Emacs. As ever, happy to be directed to an existing thread/fix. Any help much appreciated. Best. Ben
