I tried copying advice.el from the emacs 20.2 source distribution that
I had previously downloaded and removing advice.elc from this directory
which was /usr/share/emacs/20.2/lisp/emacs-lisp
I tried again and still got the same problem.
I then decided to remove the RedHat rpm emacs packages and build
everything myself. Success at last!
I am happy now and am at last an emacspeak user.
