addition to table-mode bug

s/when i try to do that/
when i try:
c-e c-t
tab ret
(i saved it in a file called tab)
it doesn't work. 
do i need to do:
c-x c-f file ret c-y c-x s y c-e ! cat file ret
every time i want to view a table like that?
