Re: viavoice goes dead
I believe this may be the result of a bug in ViaVoice itself. In early
versions of the software, this use to happen a lot. In fact, it use to
be recommended that you disable character echo to reduce the
frequency. In later versions of ViaVoice, the problem still seems to
occur, but far less often and I think it depends very much on the
amount of memory, your system's speed and the sound card you are
using. I use ViaVoice all the time and have found that since upgrading
to a 1.2 Ghz machine with a sound blaster live card that it occurs far
less often. When it does happen, I just use C-e C-s to restart the
server and continue.
I'm using viavoice-tts-rtk_5.1-2.2, which I think was the last version
released by IBM for Linux.
