Another possibility might be to put a play command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
as the last command of that file.  Your choices are at least all of the
wav files on your hard drive.  If you use RedHat, that might not preserve
the contents of /etc/rc.d/rc.local, but this does work on slackware 8.0
and is how I have it set up.
