Hi, which type of sound card modules are you using alsa or oss?
I noticed the Dectalk Software works very strangely with oss on Fedora Core
1. When I recompiled the kernel and used alsa instead the Dectalk pitch and
speed issue went away.
I noticed on Fedora Core 3 since it already has alsa by default the Dectalk
works fine out of the box.
My suggestion to fix your issue is to change from a oss soundcard module to
an alsa one.
Hth.
