I am not sure if this is the problem, but if you, by memory, change the
speech rate to whatever you use as the dtk default, does it solve the
problem?  It seems that this was an issue for me, but I don't remember.

I think I know what you mean now,  In changing from the flite tts to the
vv tts, it took a bit of getting used to.  I had to slow speech down a
bit in the beginning to be able to understand it as clearly as I did
under flite.  I think there might not be a fix for this, except to get
used to it.
