error in gnus-cus

In trying to edit group parameters, I came across this error message,
copied from *Messages*:

Loading gnus-cus...done
Loading pp...done
emacspeak-personality-prepend: Variable binding depth exceeds
max-specpdl-size 

I have not had time to track this down.  I just thought that if someone
had the time, it might get solved more quickly.
