Tim mentioned the gcc version issue as well. I am using gcc version:
gcc (GCC) 4.0.4 20060507 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.3-3)
I am still getting the compiler errors, but we've explained that and
they should be fine.
I changed the line and it now runs. The problem is now some kind of
echo going on. The problem starts during the startup message and
continues from there. It is a little hard to describe... like a
stutter.
To answer a previous question, I am using alsa-base_1.0.11-1. This is
the debian package name.
