bns and emacspeak.

Hello,
	I'm trying to get my bns 640 to work with emacspeak. I'm using a
slackware linux 7.0 system, I've installed the bns speech server, I've
added the appropriate lines in a .profile file for my console user who
will be using the synth, such as synth and port. When running emacspeak
with either
emacspeak
or
emacspeak -b
	note, the bns is connected, 9600,n81, speech box mode on, I'm getting
the error:
error process speaker not running.
