A suggestion

Dear Friends,

I am writing with a suggestion.  It was prompted by the latest episode
in a seemingly continuous flood of rude, ill-bred and uncalled-for
reactions to newbies asking for help on this list.  

I'm not going to point fingers, you know who you are, or you should.
I received a message on the blinux-newbie list from a guy whose
message I forwarded to you people because no one on our list happened
to know the answer.  His message concerned the treatment he received
at the hands of the people listed above.   He stated that he had
received several private messages asking him various uncomplimentary
things like "Do you need help to feed yourself...?"  He was also told
that he was just like all the other blind people in the world, and
several other things which I will not repeat. 

Friends, I would like to propose a solution to your dilemma.  You
obviously want Emacspeak to be a developers' list, a list where
programmers can come and talk about the program, discuss bugs etc.
Apparently newbies disturb your tranquillity.  They ask dumb
questions.  they ask the same questions again and again and refuse to
read the manual.  They interrupt the flow of discussion.  

May I suggest that you send them to us?  Put a note on your web site
and in your documentation that points to:  blinux-newbie-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxx

We've got a nice group of newbies started, and we're all helping each
other.  We're all newbies, so we don't mind asking dumb questions and
posing simple problems that are anathema to you people.  Please,
folks, if you care about Linux, and you care at all if T.V. Raman's
wonderful program is used by the blind to its best advantage, send us
the newbies!  We'll take them off your hands.  Make your list a
developers' list and have peace in your house.  

Raman's brilliant work deserves more than to have it rejected by
newbies who are fobbed off by rude remarks and a cold shoulder because
their questions do not measure up to your criteria forinquiries.  Emacspeak is a fantastic program, and I believe that it
can become the answer to the problem of the "haves" VS the
"have-nots".  But it will not do so if newbies have to deal with
developers.

Send them to us, guys.  We'll train 'em up and when they get their sea
legs, then, we'll suggest that they come to Emacspeak and not before.
Put our list on your info and continue to develope one of the best
computer programs around.  What d'you say, guys?  C'Mon, I'm offering
you an out.  What d'you say?
