Yes, indeed, and besides that you should test the speech server
separately before running Emacspeak. The "process speaker not running"
error means exactly what it suggests, namely that the speech server
isn't loading or working.

Try it with the latest version, and if it still doesn't work, run the
speech server from the shell prompt directly to test it.
