Hey Arkadiusz!
;; Disable automatic compilation - prevents recompiling .elc files
(setq load-prefer-newer nil)
(setq byte-compile-warnings nil)
;; Disable native compilation to prevent automatic recompilation
(when (fboundp 'native-comp-available-p)
(setq native-comp-deferred-compilation nil)
(setq native-comp-async-report-warnings-errors nil)
;; Exclude Emacspeak directory from native compilation
(when (boundp 'native-comp-jit-compilation-deny-list)
(add-to-list 'native-comp-jit-compilation-deny-list "emacspeak")))
For what it's worth, here are my settings for disabling native compilation during the Emacs / Emacspeak startup.

Hi Arkadiusz!I have been using Emacs-plus for quite a while and like this repository the best of all i tried so far.I used to have similar problems to what you have described, but after disabling native compilation Emacs starts out really fast and I get almost no warnings or errors during the initial startup. My suspicion is that somehow Emacspeak packages are not loaded sequentially which invalidates certain constants and variables.I will send you my .emacs instructions later today once I get access to my home machine.Best.VictorOn Tue, Oct 14, 2025 at 10:08 AM Greg Wocher <emacspeak AT emacspeak.net> wrote:Hello,Emacspeak discussion list -- emacspeak AT emacspeak.netHere is the link to the github page where I get the commands to install the latest version:It will install version 29.4 of emacs.Greg WocherOn Oct 14, 2025, at 10:29 AM, Arkadiusz <nuno69a AT gmail.com> wrote:hi Greg,Which macports tap are you using? I am running macOS 26. I am not running emacs from the terminal though. I am able to run it from my applications list like any other app. This might be why I am not seeing the slow down you are describing.Greg WocherOn Oct 14, 2025, at 6:32 AM, Arkadiusz (via emacspeak Mailing List) <emacspeak AT emacspeak.net> wrote:Hi list,Emacspeak discussion list -- emacspeak AT emacspeak.netsince macOS 26 has been released to the general public I would like to raise a problem I'm having since basically the beginning of the beta cycles of macOS 26 Tahoe.Emacspeak takes a long time to load. Steps to reproduce1. Load Emacs.2. You will hear the intro jingle as well as Swiftmac's introductory message.3. Navigating with the arrow keys actually moves the cursor but Emacspeak doesn't speak. What works for me is to use C-x <LEFT> to go to the *Scratch* buffer and hold up arrow till Emacspeak starts speaking.Another, better workaround is to start Emacs with the nw flag, effectively spawning it in a terminal.Hope someone can help me diagnose the problem.
