The strength and weakness of emacs and emacspeak is there are usually
more than one way to achieve an outcome. Whikle this provides great
power, it can make helping others or providing configuration advice
challenging.

Along those lines, below is my configuration. Note that this config has
evolved over years and could easily be wrong or have errors - it works
for me, so I leave it alone! I don't even recall why some of the
settings are there!

Also, a very under used resource is the tvr directory which is in the
git repository. This directory contains Raman's emacspeak config and is
an excellent resource for learning how to configure and tweak your
setup.

This is what I have in my init to configure emacspeak.

(add-to-list 'load-path (expand-file-name "~/git/emacspeak/trunk/lisp"))

(require 'info)
(add-to-list 'Info-additional-directory-list
(expand-file-name "info" (getenv "EMACSPEAK_DIR")))

(setq emacspeak-epub-bookshelf-directory (expand-file-name "~/Documents/bsf")
emacspeak-epub-calibre-root-dir (expand-file-name "~/Documents/Calibre")
emacspeak-epub-library-directory (expand-file-name "~/Documents/EBooks")
emacspeak-eww-inhibit-images nil
emacspeak-eww-masquerade-as (format "User-Agent: %s\r\n"
"Links (2.29; Linux
6.11.0-13-generic x86_64; GNU C 13.2; text)")
emacspeak-mail-alert nil
emacspeak-play-startup-icon nil
emacspeak-vm-use-raman-settings nil
espeak-default-speech-rate 270
outloud-default-speech-rate 80
dectalk-default-speech-rate 375)

(load-library "emacspeak-setup")
